The environment has been in bad shape in the present times. It would not be wrong to state that the people of earth have to be blamed for causing various kinds of impurities on the planet. With advancement in technology, people have been looking forward to using various kinds of metals and elements that may not be suitable for the environment at large. Therefore, people would be required to put in their best efforts for saving the environment. Any failure on any person’s part would prove disastrous for the entire world. It is a united effort of saving the environment.
What is pollution?
Pollution would be defined as the release of harmful contaminants in the environment. It could be categorized in two different forms, such as local and global pollution. In the days of old, only local pollution was deemed a significant threat to the environment. For instance, burning of coal would produce smoke in adequate concentrations that would be a serious health hazard to the family. Therefore, most people had the assumption that effective handling of local pollution would help curb the environment pollution issues. However, in the recent times, people have been facing a bigger threat in the form of global lead poisoning.
Understanding lead poisoning
Lead has been a natural element found in traceable amounts in the soil. However, the problem started when the amount started to increase in large concentration. Lead has been a by-product in various mining and manufacturing industries. It would be pertinent to mention here that lead in the atmosphere could affect the vegetation on ground adversely. It has been a serious threat to the underground water. Lead could be found in significant quantity in underground water.
Serious lead polluting sources
It would be pertinent to mention here that serious polluting sources would be inclusive of oil refineries, chemical plants, regular garbage dumps, nuclear waste plants, car factories, PVC factories, plastic factories and more. It would also take into its ambit incinerators, corporate animal farms producing ample of animal waste.
Serious threat to children
Lead has been an important chemical toxin for children. It would be pertinent to mention here that lead is the best example of neurotoxin to which several children have been largely susceptible. Children’s exposure to lead would cause several kinds of problems. They would be affected the most in their brain development.
Children are more susceptible to lead exposure. They would be exposed to lead contained in car emissions, old paint, water contaminated by lead pipes, contaminated soils and food, emissions from various factories. All these emissions would be harmful to your children.
Movement with various natural elements
Lead particles have been known to move freely and comfortably with wind, dust, soil and water. It would produce neurotoxic effects based on the exposure level. It would also be dependent on the development of nervous system at the time of exposure. Several studies have revealed developmental exposure leading to adverse effects on the brain of the child. It would hamper their learning abilities, poor motor coordination, attention deficit and problems in language development.
